Well, the team made us so proud in the KGSL finals at the GT Fairgrounds last Saturday.

The girls scored a decisive win against Dunlop with some especially impressive bats, to guarantee them 2nd place in the tournament.

Came second to league leaders Sunrise in 2nd game, but all went home happy with laudable quantities of hardware.

Lots of fun. And you don't even have to pony up big $ to see a play.

We successfully generated malnutrition in several species of waterfowl.

And some got exercise too on pedal boats on the Avon River.

Well, I must admit I didn't see much of Elvis fest 08 in Collingwood.

I did see a few of the faithful don their white jumpsuits and bouffant wigs in the parking lot across the street from Mom's place.

The girls took a stroll and caught the Elvis bug, rushing back downtown cash in hand for  a couple of Elvis t-shirts.

The boys took a wagon ride downtown to check the buzz, but were unimpressed by the crowd scene. The gang walked down with Gramma after dinner  so she could cast her blessing on the event.

Anyway, it's the first time we happened to be there during the festival. There are always photo opps...!

We were given tickets to event in St. Thomas.

Bit of a drive. And we got stuck in a nasty traffic jam on 401 outside Cambridge.

But the event was just right for the demographic of 2 - 5 yr old boys (and their families).

Just the right amount of short train ride, lemonade, lots of lemonade (it was really hot), hot dogs, etc., ice cream, clowns, Sir Topham hat, and the St. T rink full of Thomas tables and track. Couple of cool gift shops of Tom merch and from St. T train museum. And the electric trains really rang the bell of our resident Thomas fan.

All in all, worth the drive to St. Thomas, i would say.

We reconvened our work party to spruce up the compost area at the Willow Park Ecology.

Boy, does that place ever have a lot of different complexions thru the year.

The group did a wide range of tasks, including turn compost, weed the community garden, dig a trench around the turtle nest enclosures to prevent groundhog attacks, paint signage, and more.

The fave spot seemed to be the pond where two largish turtles evaded capture in the lent butterfly nets. It was a brutally hot day, so none minded trying.

Ever since we took Ben to the Halton Rail Museum last fall, he has asked many times about going back.

So last weekend on impulse the gang took a picnic basket out to Rockwood and rode the 1/4 mile rail.

How come I never get tired of this place?!

There's  big (for the rail museum) fundraising drive for a new visitors' centre.

One on of the kids picked up a t-shirt with a couple of blue prints of an engine.

 Blueprints remind me of the shipyard, which reminds me of....

Maybe that's one reason why i love this place.

Here's a little clip from our recent trip on the Number 8.. Want to splice together into another movie for Ben. Have to think of a good train song for a soundtrack.

We finally made it out there.

The strawberry plants were not the most robust I have ever seen. We only picked enough for one solid pail. Not really enough for jam this time.

It's possible other farms had better luck.

Always an enjoyable and much appreciated outing.

 GT BIA press release

You’re invited to “Come Mill Around Main” on Saturday, June 21 when Downtown Georgetown celebrates summer by welcoming the weekly Farmers Market and the Festival on Main.  After a long, cold and snowy winter, welcome back for your fresh Ontario Grown Produce!  The Downtown Georgetown Farmers’ Market opens at 8 am each Saturday morning until October 11.  The market closes at 12:30, but by then the Festival on Main will be in full swing!
 
There will be music all day!  Beginning with the Rukanas Peruvian Band at 8 am, who will be joined at 11 am by Sandy’s Stompers.  As the day unfolds Tribal Thunder will perform, back by popular demand.  Tribal Thunder not only performs, but will teach children (of all ages) how to drum.  Do you love Peanut Butter, do you love Jam?  If so, be sure to learn drumming while chanting your love for Peanut Butter and Jam!
 
Downtown Georgetown’s unique Alleyways will be the location of other bands throughout the day, including:  George Grossman’s Bohemian Swing, the Ensemble Kids (a musical theatre performance), Random Roads, Second Wind, the Lorne Scots Association Band and Ablett & Cooper.  Joining all of the music will be facepainters, the Georgetown Unicycle Club, a dunk tank, a train and children’s entertainers such as clowns, jugglers and magicians.  There is a whole day of fun and excitement in store for you!
 
But this is not all!  Many of the Downtown Georgetown Businesses will be joining in the celebration with food sampling, sidewalk sales, and even a large blow-up bipper!  There will craft, artist, artisan and community booths for you to browse through.
 
Main Street will be closed to vehicular traffic from 8 am to 6 pm (and until 12:30 pm throughout the Farmers’ Market season).

Just when it felt like May would never warm up, along comes June and we have to dig out the air conditioner, fast!

Temps Friday and Saturday did a Brill bend over 30. Thunderstorms forecast for  Sunday and Monday. Not good of course for ball games.

However it was hot enough to allow us to really appreciate our unheated pool, which nudged the merc at almost 74 degrees today.

Even the little guy went in the pool gladly.
