MANITOBA 2012

Watch this space for details on the Manitoba 2012 Youth Mission Trip as they develop!

.................

NEW DATE:

Thurs. Aug 16 - Mon. Aug. 27

Our host:

Winnipeg Inner City Missions (Wicm.ca)

Tentative itinerary:

I've roughed out a plan with Rev. Margaret Mullin of WICM with these key dates:

* Arrive at Anishanabe Place of Hope around noon, where will will help with a Fun Day, to include the regular Sunday worship service.

* Mon/Tues - help with the children's program at Flora House

* Wed/Fri - drive to Medicine Eagle at Keeseekowenin to help Audrey and Stella harvest medicinal herbs.

Tentative travel plans

We were all saddened by the loss of Tyler Ketchum in March 2011 to brain cancer.  Tyler was the 24 year old son of one of our beloved hosts in Winnipeg, Vivian Ketchum. Tyler's circle of influence included his many friends in Winnipeg, as well as relatives on his home reserve in Kenora. Out of respect for the distance and effort many people travelled to support Tyler and family during this difficult time, we will be driving and camping.

We can take a maximum of 9 youth, plus driver/leaders & camping gear.  Participants and parents are interviewed to make sure all understand parameters of the trip, then determined on a first confirm, first serve basis.

Participants must: help with fundraising, assist with local outreach projects, and must be know to demonstrate high levels of responsibility and accountability.
